Open-Top Tanks

Available in flat, rectangular and conical styles, Saint-Gobain open-top tanks are rotational-molded from high-quality virgin resins, including heavy and lightweight HDPE (high-density polyethylene), polypropylene, and PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride). Built for durability, these open-top tanks have excellent chemical resistance and are not vulnerable to stress-cracking. Each tank is translucent with molded-in graduations and a matching cover the same thickness as the wall, which fits over the unit like a shoe box top.

Open-top tanks and are rated for use with 1.8 specific gravity media, which increases to 2.2 with the use of a fiberglass casing. Tanks over 30 gallons have a slightly raised or spoked bottom to provide excellent drainage. The HDPE and polypropylene resins meet FDA 21 CFR 177.1520; PVDF tanks meet 21 CFR 177.2510.

Conical-bottom tanks feature a 30° cone angle (18° for 400 gallons, 45° for 500 gallons) for complete drainage and better dispersal of solids. Clearance from the floor to bottom of the tank is 18” (12” on 10-gallon tank). A metal stand is required and sold separately.

Open-top tank covers or sides can be customized with welded, loose and mechanical fittings. Tank mixers are also available.

Sanitary Tanks

Closed-Dome Tanks

Closed-dome tanks protect contents from contamination, spillage and evaporation, making them ideal for preparing media and growing cultures. Closed-dome tanks are rotational-molded and have a 6” threaded screw closure with silicone, Viton® or EPDM gasket. The HDPE version has a 2” top bung with buttress thread; Polypropylene tanks have a 2” NPS. The domed bottom provides excellent drainage. With metal stand, closed-dome tanks are elevated 22” from the floor.

Conical Tanks

Saint-Gobain sanitary conical tanks are used in applications where aseptic, sanitary or non-metallic fluid handling is required. Each tank is rotational-molded from resins that meet USP Class VI and non-cytotoxic standards—polypropylene for autoclave applications and PVDF for greater chemical resistance. Sanitary ferrules and drain valves can be installed to customer specifications. Pre-engineered, portable mixers and stands sold separately.

Bulk Storage XLPE Tanks

Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics bulk storage tanks are rotational-molded from cross-linked high-density polyethylene (XLPE), in a variety of shapes and sizes appropriate for indoor and outdoor use. XLPE tanks can store corrosives, inorganic and organic chemicals and compounds, and boiler treatment chemicals, as well as many inorganic acids. Vertical, conical-bottom or horizontal configurations are available with a variety of accessories, such as insulation, heat tracing, fill lines, and other items.

Why Choose Rotational-Molded Tanks?

All Saint-Gobain high-performance tanks are manufactured through a process called rotational molding. This technique creates a seamless construction for easy cleaning and a consistent wall thickness that does not thin at the corners. Instead, Saint-Gobain rotational-molded tanks have generous, rounded corners, to prevent cracking and fluid entrapment.

Other Advantages Over Fabricated Steel & Fiberglass:

  • Less expensive
  • No leaking
  • One-half the weight
  • Corrosion-resistant
  • Translucent
  • No wicking
